Ryobi Adds Three New Mowers to its 40V Battery Platform for 2025
If you’re thinking about upgrading your lawn care setup in 2025, there’s no better time to switch to battery power. Rounding out 2024 for Ryobi’s new lawn care additions, the brand announced three new mowers joining the 40V battery-powered lineup. I’ll walk you through each model to see which one fits your needs.

The most powerful of Ryobi’s new 40V mower lineup is the RY40HPLM02K2 21-inch Self-Propelled Multi-Blade mower. It delivers more power than a 170cc gas mower, reaching full throttle in less than 2 seconds (with no cord-pulling, to boot). The big deal about this model is its Cross Cut multi-blade system, which uses a dual-stacked blade design for fewer clumps, better discharge dispersal, and finer clippings. We first saw this blade design from Ryobi with the 40V RY401150, which we reviewed back in 2021.
It has dual-active battery ports, letting you utilize two batteries sequentially without stopping your mowing session. Using both kitted 6.0Ah batteries, this mower runs for up to 75 minutes, making it ideal for lawns up to 3/4-acre in size. It also adapts to your mowing conditions, increasing blade speed to avoid bogging down when you mow through thicker grass.
Finally, the RY40HPLM02K2 mower features Smark Trek adaptive variable speed control, which lets you adapt the mower’s speed to your walking pace. You can adjust and monitor your blade speed, lights, and more on the Cut Control Center located on the handle.
- Price: $649 kit with (2) 40V 6.0Ah batteries and rapid charger
- Available early 2025
Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 21-inch Self-Propelled Mower
- Model: Ryobi RY40HPLM01
- Battery platform: Ryobi 40V
- 21-inch deck
- Self-propelled
- Power equivalence: 163cc
- Runtime: up to 80 minutes
- Two active battery ports
- Turbo mode
- 10 height adjustment positions (1 – 4 inches)
- Pass-through bag design
- Folding handles for compact storage
The next new Ryobi mower added to the 40V platform is the RY40HPLM01, which also features a 21-inch deck. Its brushless motor delivers more power than a 163cc gas mower, and a push-button start enables full-throttle power in under 2 seconds. Like the previous entry, it has two active battery ports, allowing you to utilize both kitted batteries without interrupting your mowing productivity. Using two 6.0Ah batteries, this mower can run for up to 80 minutes per charge, making it ideal for mid-size lawns up to 3/4-acre.
Like the RY40HPLM02K2 mentioned above, this model features a Cut Command Center, which lets you keep an eye on your runtime and battery life, speed mode, lights, and more. You can also toggle on Turbo mode for an extra power boost to tackle touch grass patches.
- Price: $449 bare; $549 kit with (2) 4.0Ah batteries and charger
- Available early 2025
Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 21-inch Push Mower
- Model: Ryobi RY40HPLM05K
- Battery platform: Ryobi 40V
- 21-inch deck
- Power equivalence: 163cc
- Runtime: up to 55 minutes
- Turbo mode
- 10 height adjustment positions (1 – 4 inches)
- Pass-through bag design
- Folding handles for compact storage
Like the previous entry, the new Ryobi RY40HPLM05K mower delivers more power than a 163cc gas model. However, instead of a self-propelled function, this model opts for a traditional push-mower design. It runs on a single Ryobi 40V battery, with one active battery port and one storage port. Using the kitted 8.0Ah battery, this mower can run for up to 55 minutes per charge.
The Cut Command Center located on the handle enables you to monitor your runtime, blade speed, and lights. Like the other new Ryobi mowers, the RY40HPLM05K also features Turbo mode, which gives you an extra power boost for tackling thick grass.
Finally, when you’re finished mowing for the day, you can fold down the handles for compact vertical storage.
- Price: $449 with (1) 40V 8.0Ah battery and charger
- Available early 2025
