Lemon Centerpiece
This unique centerpiece is easy to make and you can add the flowers of your choice to the top. The lemons make it a fresh addition to any wedding reception!
Supplies needed:
Choosing a Vase
While any vase would work, there are a few things that will make the entire process a bit easier. Here are a few things to look for when choosing a vase for this project:
- A flat side or sides to display lemons easily.
- An opening that is large enough for your hand to arrange lemons.
- Flat surface that is large enough to add the moss number.
How to Make a Centerpiece with Lemons
Now that you have your supplies, it is time to make some lemon centerpieces for your wedding. Start by adding the moss number to the front (if desired) then move on to adding the lemons.

Cutting Moss Table Numbers
For my version, I chose to add a moss number to the front of the vase. You can leave this off if you would like. The moss sheets I am using are self-adhesive with a liner on the back.
To get your numbers, you can print numbers on copy paper and cut them out with scissors. Or you could even use a Cricut machine to cut cardstock numbers. NOTE: The Cricut machine will NOT cut the moss sheet itself.
Once you have your number, flip it upside down on the back of the moss sheet and trace around it with a pen.
Cut the number out with a pair of scissors. You may need to use the scissors to trim the moss a bit as well. You should be left with a moss number with a paper lining on the back.
Adding Moss Table Numbers to the Vase
Just peel back the liner from the number and adhere it to the front of your vase. Make sure the vase surface is clean and dry before application. Be sure to locate it where you want it before sticking it down as you should not move it once in place.
NOTE: You want your number to be smaller than the front of your vase so the lemons will be visible.
Adding Lemons to a Vase
Slice your lemons into thin slices. I think about 1/4 inch thick works well.
Start adding those slices to the inside of the vase on the flat side (or sides). Add marbles to the vase as you add the lemons so they help to hold the lemons in place.
You can add as many or as few lemon slices as you would like. You may want to add both the lemons and the moss number on both sides of the base so it looks good from all angles when placed on your table.
Then just simply add water and your flowers to the vase and this one is ready for your celebration!
FAQ
You may have a few questions about making a lemon centerpiece of your own. I am answering a few of the common ones below. Feel free to ask additional questions in the comment section below.
How long does this centerpiece last?
This is fresh fruit so it will not last long. I would assemble these the same day as your wedding. In a home, you could probably get a few days out of it.
Do these have to be for weddings?
Absolutely not! You can use this same idea without the moss number for your table in the spring. Or add a moss bunny to the front for a cute Easter centerpiece.
Where can I find the vase you used?
I am unable to find the exact vase I used online. However, any vase you love that has a flat side or sides would work the same!
How many lemons do I need per vase?
That depends on the size of your vase as well as the size of your lemons. If you are doing these for a wedding, I would make a test centerpiece to determine the number of lemons needed.
